What is an X video downloader?

An X video downloader is a web tool that saves a copy of a video from a public post on X (formerly Twitter) to your own device. X lets you watch videos in the app and on the website, but it has no button for keeping a file offline. This site fills that gap: you give it the address of a post, it finds the media attached to that post, and it hands you ordinary MP4 or image files that play, archive and edit with any software.

Nothing is re-encoded and no watermark is added. You receive the same renditions X serves to its own viewers — usually several sizes of the same clip, from a light mobile version to the sharpest one available.

How to download a video from X

On a computer the whole process takes a few seconds:

  1. Open the post on x.com and copy the address from the browser bar, or use Share → Copy link.
  2. Paste the address into the field at the top of this page and select Download video.
  3. Review the available versions. Each one lists its resolution and, when known, its file size.
  4. Select the version you want. Your browser saves it to its usual downloads folder.

New x.com addresses and older twitter.com links both work, including links with tracking parameters such as ?s=20 and addresses that end in /video/1. The link is cleaned up automatically before it is looked up.

How to download X videos on mobile

The downloader runs in the browser you already have, so there is no app to install. The only difference between phones is where the file ends up.

Android

In the X app, tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link. Open Chrome, come to this page, tap the field and paste (or use the Paste button). Pick a quality; Chrome shows a download notification and stores the file in Downloads, where most gallery apps find it automatically. If it does not appear in your gallery, open the Files app and look in Downloads.

iPhone and iPad

Copy the post link from the X app with Share → Copy link, then open this page in Safari. Paste the link, tap Download video and choose a quality. Safari asks to confirm the download and saves the file to the Files app under Downloads. To move a video into Photos, open it in Files, tap Share and choose Save Video.

X video quality explained

When someone uploads a video, X re-encodes it into several renditions so it streams smoothly on any connection. That is why you usually see more than one option:

  • Full HD — 1080 pixels on the short side (for example 1920 × 1080), the sharpest version when the uploader provided one.
  • HD — 720 pixels on the short side, a good balance between clarity and file size.
  • SD — lower resolutions such as 640 × 360, handy for saving storage or mobile data.

Nothing is upscaled: the best quality you can download is the best quality X has. Vertical videos keep their orientation, so a portrait clip may be listed as 720 × 1280.

Why some videos cannot be downloaded

Most failures have a simple explanation, and the downloader tells you which one applies:

  • The post is from a protected account. Protected posts are only visible to approved followers, and this service never tries to get around that.
  • The post was deleted, or the account was suspended or deactivated.
  • The video lives in a quoted post. Open the quoted post and copy its own link.
  • The post only links to a video hosted elsewhere, such as a YouTube card.
  • X restricts the media by age or region.

If you see "Too many requests", wait a few minutes before trying again.

Privacy and temporary processing

You do not need an account, and you will never be asked for your X password — be wary of any downloader that does. The link you paste is used only to look up that post. When you download, the file passes through our server in a temporary file that is deleted as soon as the transfer ends; a cleanup job removes anything left behind after an interrupted download. Recent look-ups are cached for a few minutes so repeated requests are fast, and we keep anonymous daily statistics such as the number of downloads, without building profiles of what individual visitors save. The details are in the privacy policy.
