What counts as a public Spotlight snap
Spotlight is the Snapchat feed where creators post short vertical clips for anyone to watch. Each Spotlight snap has its own web page on snapchat.com that opens without an account, and that public page is the only thing this tool reads. If a snap plays in a browser window where you are not logged in, it is public in this sense.
Everything else in Snapchat stays out of reach on purpose: snaps sent to you in chat, private stories, stories visible only to friends, Snap Map content and memories. We do not ask for a login, so there is no way to see what an account can see, and we would not build one.
Which links work
Paste a link that points to a single Spotlight snap. Both of these shapes are accepted, with or without the www part and any tracking parameters after the question mark:
- snapchat.com/spotlight/ followed by the snap’s long ID
- snapchat.com/@creator/spotlight/ followed by the same ID
Profile links, story links on story.snapchat.com and short t.snapchat.com links are refused. A short link only redirects somewhere else, and we never follow redirects from a pasted address. Open it in your browser first, wait for the Spotlight page to load, then copy the full address from the address bar.
Copying the link on a phone
In the Snapchat app
Play the Spotlight snap, tap the Share arrow, then Copy link. Some versions show the option under a More or three-dot menu instead.
In a mobile browser
When someone sends you a Spotlight page, long-press the address bar and choose Copy. On iPhone, the share sheet in Safari also offers Copy.
Back on this page, tap Paste or long-press the field. If your share sheet adds a sentence around the link, we keep only the Snapchat address.
About the downloaded file
Spotlight clips are filmed for a phone screen, so the file is vertical, usually with a 9:16 shape. Snapchat stores one version of each clip for the web, which is why you see a single download button instead of a list of qualities. We do not upscale, re-encode or add anything to it; what you save is the file the public page plays.
On iPhone, Safari puts the file in the Downloads folder of the Files app; from there, Share → Save Video adds it to Photos. On Android, it lands in the Download folder and shows up in most gallery apps.
When a Spotlight cannot be saved
If the creator deleted the snap or limited who can watch it, its public page disappears and we report that the post could not be found. If Snapchat changes how its public pages work, the Snapchat downloader may pause for a while; the other tools on this site keep working. Please respect the creator: keep saved clips for personal use unless you have permission, and credit them when sharing is allowed.
