About Videones
Videones is a small, independent tool for saving videos, GIFs and images from public posts on X. It is built to be fast, honest and respectful of both users and creators.
Why we built it
Downloader websites have a reputation for pop-ups, fake download buttons and misleading redirects. We wanted the opposite: one clear input, real results and nothing hidden. Advertising pays for the servers, but it never sits on top of a download button and never pretends to be part of the tool.
How it works
When you paste a link, we check that it really points to a post on X and extract the post’s numeric ID. We then request the post’s public media information from X’s public embed service (the same service that displays X posts embedded on other websites) and list every available version with its resolution and size. When you choose a version, our server fetches that single file from X’s media servers through a strictly limited connection and streams it to you. Nothing is kept afterwards.
Our principles
- Public content only. We never try to access protected accounts, private messages or anything behind a login.
- No accounts, no passwords. We will never ask for your X credentials.
- Minimal data. Links and files are not stored; statistics are anonymous and aggregated.
- Respect for creators. We remind users that downloading is not permission to reuse, and we act on valid copyright notices.
- Accessible by default. The site works with a keyboard and screen readers and on screens as small as 320 pixels.
